Furter and his minions. He is building the perfect love god -- a muscle-bound blond named Rocky. Starting in New York City, this movie grew into one of the best-known "cult classics" of all time, in which moviegoers dress like the characters, dance to the musical numbers, and shout well-timed sarcastic remarks at the screen.

What do you think is the seemingly timeless appeal of a movie that appears to be little more than a campy B-movie? What are some other examples of cult classics? When the movie was released in , many of the themes and content were considered taboo subjects.

How is this movie a product of that time, and how does it hold up today? Teen, 13 years old Written by bands4life September 15, RHPS for life! This is my second favorite musical movie, my first is Sweeny Todd, but who cares. Now this movie has some very mature themes, and you should be cautious about showing this to younger teens.

But it isn't language or violence that is the problem, not really even sex, everything keeps it at a PG level. This movie was originally rated PG, but parents didn't like the mature themes and sexual nature of the film.

So they gave it an R rating, keep in mind that PG didn't exist in The main problems are: The sexual innuendo, The suggestive lyrics, and the mature themes of sexuality. There is one sexual scene with rocky and janet, but you don't see any nudity, and its mostly singing.

There is a scene where Dr. This scene is behind drapes, so you don't see anything, and the scene cuts off before anything really explicit is shown, but sex is heavily implied. Heavily detailed statue nudity, people are also turned into nude statues, we see them later clothed. Overall, this movie is very mild compared to most R-rated movies today, I think that it would be a PG in this time period. Helped me decide. Teens and up! It is about a couple spending a night at the castle of the transsexual scientist Frank N. Furter Tim Curry. You need to know that this 's music movie has become a cult classic over the year, being refered to several times and still having very succesful screenings. Hardcore fans of the movie visit theatres wearing customes, interacting with the movie and dance and sing along. If you watch this movie critically, you have to say that the plot is a bit weak and the movie does not have a really good story.

However, this is not what this movie focuses on. It is interesting because of its abstruse, odd and twisted scenes, its very unique way of filming. Tim Curry gives a grat performance, both as an actor and a singer. The songs are memorable, with the two most outstanding being the infamous "The Time Warp" and the refreshingly unusual "Sweet Transvestite". This movie sure has its low points, but overall is original, off-beat and musically superb!

Frank N. Furter, the transsexual scientist, is a very sexed up character and frequently tries to convince the others to be open for new sexual experiences. He sleeps with both a man and a woman throughout the movie this scene is done in shadows - we see Frank putting up the other character's legs and then the camera cuts away , even though these characters are engaged.

It is also implied he sleeps with Rocky but we only see them go into another room together. Nude sculptures are seen. This is not a sexually graphic movie, nothing you would not expect from nowaday's PG movies. It could be that there is a brief scene of briest nudity, according to some websites, but I don't remember this. Despite CSM's rating, there is some infrequent strong violence. A character is hacked to death with an axe off-screen, but we see the gory results.

At the table, his corpse is revealed there are body parts missing - but it is brief and does not look realistic. A brief scene featuring a decaying corpse in a clock. All of these violent scenes are brief, but the dinner scene can be disturbing.

There is 1 use of the f-word and much use of PG to PG language. The movie however, has a comedic undertone. Plus, it is a musical, so the frightning athmosphere gets interrupted with songs, having enough comic relief to make it suitable for mature teenagers.

It is a little "off kilter," but it's not the movie the kids are going for, it's the experience. Of course you should know that the prominent theme revolves around the transgender culture. Of course I am not transgender, and neither are my friends, but it was a great experience a young person just getting to fully understand the world.

Think of it as a Halloween party. I've never seen it, but I'm sure its not horrible Join now. User Feb. Activities for kids Teenagers Leave a comment Create a free account with Care. User in Charleston, SC Feb.
